Shan respects and protects the privacy of the individuals that use our internet directory and classifieds section. Individually identifiable information about you is not willfully disclosed to any third party without first receiving your permission, as explained in this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy").

Privacy is a personal right and your privacy is important to us at Shan. We are aware that a critical concern of individuals, when revealing personal details to unknown persons on the World Wide Web, is what happens to this information and who has access to it. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible visiting our website and using its services.

You can visit our site and use most of our services without having to tell us who you are or reveal any personally identifiable information to us. There are, however, a few instances where we do collect personally identifiable information in order to fulfill your request.

We only require registration to post and modify your ads in the Shanclassifieds section.

When you submit a site address for inclusion in the Shan directory.



The rest of the site can be accessed without registering. The Personal Menu is provided simply as a convenience for users to keep an online record of their ads. You are always welcome to use the Shan site without registering or providing any personal information. When you visit and navigate our Web site, we will not collect personal information about you unless you provide us that information voluntarily. By "personal information," we mean data that is unique to an individual, such as a name, address, e-mail address or telephone number.

What information we obtain and how this information is used.

Personal Information is the information that can be used to identify or contact you. Shan collects only the personal information you provide to us. We collect the Personal Information that you provide to us in two general and distinct ways:

When you register as a Member and/or when you update your Member Profile, and

When you choose to use the Personal Menu to post or modify your ads. We also collect non-personal information through the use of "cookies". Shan does not store any personally identifiable information (PII) in any cookies on your computer. All of these are described in more detail below.



Access to your Personal Menu on this site does require that your browser be configured to accept cookies.

If you wish to create your own Personal Menu you need to register first which requires that your browser must be configured to accept cookies.



Shan believes strongly in member privacy. Shan's cookies will not be transmitted to other sites and they will not be used to pass individual activity to third parties.


Cookies are used for Authentication . A cookie is a piece of data that identifies you as a unique user. These cookies are temporary or permanent. Temporary browser cookies are not saved to your hard drive as they are only persistent for each instance of your browser application. Permanent cookies are saved on your hard drive and are permanent until removed. In either case, the cookies allow your browser to automatically tell Shan who you are, so that you are not required to sign in each visit.


The only cookies which Shan sends to your computer is when you register to post ads in the classifieds section. This cookie is only sent when you login to access your personal menu. It is automatically removed from your computer when you log out from the system. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Be aware, however, that some parts of the Shanclassifieds may not function properly if you refuse cookies.



Always Log Out. Once you have saved a permanent cookie, you can remove this cookie from your computer by clicking on the Logout link which is found at the top of the page (it replaces the Login link once you've signed in). The permanent cookie with your information will be removed from your computer. We strongly recommend that you logout every time, after managing your ads, if you are using a computer with more than one user, to prevent unauthorized access to your Personal Menu.



We use statistics software to collect information about use of the site. This information helps us to track how many pageviews and hits we deliver, length of stay on the site, and frequency that each page is visited. This information is used only in aggregate form and no individual or identifying information is Shared with any other corporation, or even stored by Shan.

This aggregate information is used internally to help us determine resource needs, such as how much serving power we need, and for content development. We Share some of this aggregate information such as generalized statistics about number of users and pageviews, duration of visits, etc. to investors and sponsors.

Security and Shanring of Information

Shan makes every effort to safeguard your personal information which you have voluntarily provided to us. However, like other Internet sites, we cannot guarantee that it is completely secure from people who might attempt to evade security measures or intercept transmissions over the Internet.

Similarly, we cannot completely ensure the privacy of e-mail communications to and from our site because they are not encrypted and, therefore, not secure. These communications, like most internet e-mail, could be intercepted without your knowledge and permission, while in transit to or from our site. If you are concerned about your privacy, we suggest that you do not use e-mail to communicate information to us that you consider sensitive.

In the few instances where Shan does collect personally identifiable information, Shan will not Share it with any other companies or individuals unless: We have your permission to Share the information;



We need to Share your information with certain third parties with which we have a business relationship in order to provide a product or service you have requested. Unless we tell you otherwise, these third parties do not have the right to use your personal information we Share with them beyond what is necessary to deliver your requested product or service; or



We comply with court orders or subpoenas.


Furthermore, we will not sell or disclose your personally identifiable information as customer lists to anyone. Nor will we Share with anyone personally identifiable information about you that is of medical, financial or sexual nature.

Clicking on a link from this site may navigate you to another site that may gather information about you. Please take note that any information you reveal on that site is not subject to this Privacy Policy. Shan has no control over the privacy policies of other organizations and you should consult the privacy policies of each site you visit.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. Please note that this website is not designed or intended to attract children under the age of 13 without parental guidance. We do not collect Personal Information from any person we actually know is under the age of 18.
